IFIKIE WAZAZI: AN EPITOME OF OUR SOCIETY'S DECADENCE

The horrendous debate under the hashtag Ifikie Wazazi is an epitome of the deep decadence in our society today. It is less of the teenagers at their peak of adoescence in raunchy photos than the state of our generation today. It's not a big deal for them neither is it a bother to go for a photoshoot that overtly flaunts pudenda. Probably we saw this coming but we decided to cross that bridge when we come to it.Now we are stranded not knowing what move to take. Fate has caught up with us!
I'm not surprised to see how we demonize KFCB CEO Ezekiel Mutua in his efforts to uplift the moral standards of our society. We live in a generation that glorifies nudity and cannoning incorrigible behaviours. It goes without say that an adult well skilled in photography connived with minors to shoot such distasteful and raunchy photos that grieves the eyes. Dammit to hell! When adults don't subscribe to morality, the rot tricked down to children. What the kids are doing is as a result of what they are exposed to by the adults in their circles, parents, role models and so to say celebrities. They are just perfecting the art!
Where have we gone amiss? This is a question to ponder on. Looking at the captions on those photos it's an enough proof that our generation is woebegone. For all intents and purposes, we have to deal with this rot aloof. It is a problem deeply rooted in us. So, where do we begin?Yesterday I had a date with my nephew who is yet to join university. We had a candid, man to man discussion on several issues. I wasn't surprised by his view of "campus life" from his experience in highchool. Though his myopic view in regard to girls is something i had to drill out of him and inject some sense in his skull. It worries me when a 17-year old lad thinks that all girls are cheap and sex among "campusers" is as cheap as a lollipop. Probably that's the coinage of lamba lolo. But why such futile thinking? High schools are transformed into brothels during funkies and other events. Where girls wiggle and giggle their behinds like frail twigs as boys dance indecently behind them, after dancing where "foms" come up, girls taken behind classes and laboratories and the rest is history. Where boys try as much as they can to waylay girls and have a taste of the forbidde fruit and get a reason to brag among their peers for a whole term. Our teachers don't care what kind of music the students play and what happens during the 'entertainment' during school functions. However much parrafin is put in githeri to suppress the desires is in vain. Teachers ought to be on the forefront in instilling good moral values among the students. Most of this queer habits are learned from music that is popular among high school students. Music that glorifies pornography, drug abuse and other forms of social evil. I was surprised to hear of what happens nowadays in high-schools. Where boys fight for kulambishwa like cocks only to grapple remembering the name of the girl after the hit and run.(sic)Reminds me of my former high school's principal who suspended some naughty boys for dancing naked behind girls during a function.
Parents have to cross the Rubicon for the betterment of their children. Why spoil the child by sparing the rod. Some parents have failed in their roles and history will judge them harshly.such shenanigans in the #ifikieWazazi thread clearly depicts failed parenting. Who on earth blandishes their child for such uncooth behaviour. Some parents have transformed their children into tatterdemalions in the spirit of keeping up with the trend. Ikr! I better open up a can of worms on my child rather than accept dressings that takes after a wench. What kind of parent allows their kid to go partying for a whole night without questioning? Are parents still afraid of speaking about sex and sexuality with their children. Why shouldn't a parent ask the motive behind some dressing and apperances that their children want to keep up with?
We all have a role to play. Parents, schools, media and all stakeholders. The media should not place profitability in front of morality by airing shows and programmes that awash Mora standards. Failure to safeguard the future of our kids, history will judge us harshly. Karma is keeping up with us! An apple does not fall far from the tree.
