SPONSOR-SHIP CRAZE; GREED OR DESPERATION?

After the death of one Sharon Otieno and her unborn kid, whose burial cost one million, it doesn't seem to be the end of the road of sponsors. The trade continues to thrive. Also known as mentors or blessers, sponsors do not see the shame of putting horns on their wives as they pursue girls younger than their grandchildren. The rich lovers predate on the young glorified prostitutes for sex and bragging as the young girls pursue them sponyos for fame amongst their peers, material gains and to live life that they on their own cannot make it is the perception. But what is driving many girls to the sponsorship menace? Many think it is out of greed as others have a nay opinion. Some think it is out of desperation. Why would a 21 year old damsel be yoked with an old man whose weight they cannot even carry? The main assumption is that girls get into such relationships to enjoy better life, of which some are enjoying for just a short moment then the dark side of life befells them and they go to the grave before their time.

On the contrary some girls are finding themselves in the sponsorship craze due to life's hurdles. Some young mothers are left the burden of bringing up their children sired by irresponsible men. As a result the girls run to the sponsors to help them ease the burden. Some are just heavy ladden with the family and societal expectations. We live in a society that holds a poor mentality that believes once you're done with university education, you start providing for your family. It's now your time to give back to the parents, their time to enjoy the fruits of your labor and your turn to educate your young siblings. As a result they go hunting for the sponsors to meet the family expectations. The shameful thing is that some parents don't give a damn to the quick wealth although they know their children are not employed. So long as they live a lavish a life, they turn a blind eye. It is ironic for a parent who has worked hard to educate their children all through and taught them the art if hard work to depend on handouts from sponsors but later come out shedding crocodile tears when gate befall such parents.

Any parent who accepts money and fast material things from their children band they don't question such wealth are simply accomplices in crime and such crimes. No parent should turn a blind eye to their kids in the event they know they are being sponsored. On the other hand young people should be contented with what their parents and guardians can provide. It's high time they realize that the so called sponsors have laboured for their wealth and they won't give it for free hence they have to jealously guard it. Chewing contraceptives is not an option. Sponsors don't know what condoms are. Unlucky you if you get pregnant! Sponsors are not ready to bring up kids. They finished parenting long ago. Therefore the consequences have to be felt. Wow unto you if the sponsorship game goes sour! Your grave is waiting for you!
